My 14 yr old granddaughter loves this series. She read all three in 4 days.
Wanted it to love it but I found it filled with themes other authors have done before and actually kind of dull. Ever annoyed me in her constant confusion and whining. Just not for me I guess.
Great books!
These books are great!!! My mom let me order them and I began to read them as soon as they arrived. I finished the first book in 3 days and I finished the second one in a week. (Not that it wasn't good, but I had school stuff to do.) They were both fantastic!!!! However, I would have to say that the third one wasn't all that good. It felt like it kept dragging on and it wasn't getting anywhere. It only started to get exciting towards the end. But still, I would recommend these books to anyone that asked me about them. )
I know this series gets a lot of slack...but for a YA read, I find it refreshing. For an alchemist to discover Immortality? The idea of soul mates. The question is Immortality really worth it in the end? I love Ever and Damen, and I love how they grow in the series. It's kind of unique from what I've read (not completely, I'll just say nicely refreshing). Yes, some parts drag on...but as with most books, they are needed to fully get what goes on later in the series. Don't listen to the hype. If it interests you, check it out. )
I liked the first books in this series. Has an interesting story line and is well written. The characters are well developed and even the characters you don't really like...you kind of find a reason to like them. Or at least I did. The author gives good backgrounds so that you can at least understand why the people are behaving the way that they are. And the twists and turns of the book keep you turning pages.
I have to say that I just don't get all of the negative reviews and why is this even being compared to the "Twilight Series?"
I can point out some of the (obvious) to that last question but honestly what other "Fiction" books don't have the same thing... talking about being "IMMORTAL" and "BLUE MOON" ugh, other than that? Nope not getting it! Yes of course every book has to have some hot guys and hot friends and all that but... ???
Okay so let's move on the the review. Oh, I forgot I purchased this set for less than $5 bucks. ;) It was a steal!
EVERMORE- This first book just throws you under the loop at the beginning. I was sort of lost as to what the heck was going on. Then the pieces started to click. Sorry!!! I am probably the only one that felt that way.
It was a great way to start the series and add twist and turns though I could never really guess what was going to happen through out most of it. I would assume one thing and end up completely wrong. That was frustrating to say the least, then again that is why I liked it to begin with.
BLUE MOON- Completely takes you to where the last one ended with, yet again another twist to add to the mix. We find some answers and just dig ourselves into another bit of disaster in the making. I loved it.
SHADOWLAND- I thought that the name alone would be like... I don't know dark, evil... I will let you find that out, but Yes and No! This one again takes us were the last one drops us off and of course, another twist to keep it going while answering questions still brewing and creating new ones in the process.
Overall? I would go for this set. It was not bad and it did NOT drag on. I read a book a day with house cleaning and everything every other busy "Mom" would be doing. So yes- try it out. It is not anywhere close to "Twilight" has no Vamps or anything of that sort.
